Walk for mental health and awareness anywhere in 2021
The mission of the Mental Awareness Foundation is to raise awareness around depression and mental illness. They support charities that are working on the frontline, literally saving lives. These charities receive no government funding and with our help they are able to continue to support those in crisis and preserve lives.
Walk for Awareness is the annual flagship event held by the Mental Awareness Foundation and the 11th edition is on Sunday 10 October 2021. A virtual event option has been created, so that you can walk wherever you want, or, you can still choose to join the main event starting in Captain Burke Park in Brisbane.
“We would like to encourage everyone to take time for mental health. We have a mental health crisis in Australia with the shocking statistic that we lose 9 Australians to suicide each day. Our mission is to save lives and we hope to have thousands join us to Walk for Awareness in Brisbane and anywhere on Sunday 10th October 2021,” said Mental Awareness Foundation CEO Raewyn Bailey.
Walk for Awareness is an event which includes a 9km walk that involves bringing people together in a friendly and safe environment where issues of mental health can be discussed openly with friends, family and supportive strangers.
Registration for individuals and teams is now open. Join today at walkforawareness.org.au.
