Queensland Mental Health Week will be celebrated at St Mary’s College with activities facilitated throughout the week for students and staff. The activities have been crafted to reflect the theme for 2024.
- “Mary’s Mindfulness”: During the day the College will pause for 1 minute. Calming music will be played over the PA system and all classes will pause during this time to foster stillness and calm.
- Daily lunch time activities for students and staff:

- Connect to Culture: The College First Nations students and Pasifika students will be invited to perform during lunch break. The College First Nations students will be invited to open Mental Health week.

- Connect to Nature: Students will have a picnic in the grounds with picnic rugs, music and games. Students will be given a treat to share with friends (eg lolly pop, ice block).

- Connect to Self: Students will be able to participate in mindfulness activities including: origami, craft, stress ball making, mandala making, colouring.

- Connect to Others: Movement and Mental Health -students can connect with friends through “Just Dance”.

- Connect to Others -Social activity – students will participate in fun bingo to celebrate the end of Mental Health Week, prizes will be on offer.

- At the end of the week, staff will be invited to connect over a cup of coffee/hot chocolate with information provided about Mental Health. A coffee van will be provided and a free beverage supplied to each staff member. We will provide staff details about mental wellbeing and engage with the College EAP service in the provision of information.
